Bible Reading: 2 Chron. 1; Phil. 2: 1-15
“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” – Philippians 2:10-11 (KJV)
The name of Jesus is a solution key to all problems. However, if you hold a key to a house and you do not know how to use it, you will not be able to enter the house. If someone picks the key to another man’s house and tries to open it, when caught, such a person is at best taken as an intruder or worse still a robber! Similarly, in case of the name of Jesus, it could turn out to be a problem for anyone who is not associated with it. This is what happened to seven sons of Sceva in Acts 19:13-16 when they called one with evil spirits and tried to use the name of Jesus to cast out the demons in him. The man in whom the evil spirit was, leaped on them and they had to run out naked! Why? Because they did not have authority to use the name of Jesus Christ.
On the other hand, it is this same name that Peter used to make a pronouncement on the life of a cripple at Beautiful gate. The bible says in Acts 3:6 (KJV), “Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have ,give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.” And immediately, the lame man received supernatural strength and the legs became normal and began to walk!
The name of Jesus had worked wonders in the past, it is still doing great things now but you must have a lawful access to the name for it to work for you.
To have a lawful access to the name, you must be born again, that is , accept you are a sinner, confess your sins, decide not to go back to those sins anymore and accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. In addition, you must regularly study the bible and fellow-ship with Jesus by praise, worship and prayers. Also , you must be preaching the gospel to win souls to Christ often and live a life of holiness.
With this , anytime you call on the name of Jesus ,he will answer as stated in Philippians 2:10-11 (KJV) “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Prayer: Father, give me the grace to pay the price that will make the name of Jesus work for me.
