Bible Reading: Psalm 42; Revelation 2: 20-29
“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God” – Psalm 42:11(KJV).
Sometimes we suffer pains from wounded soul. Such pain inflicted on the soul often results in discouragement and despair. Faith wane, love wax cold, hope is weakened and morale is down. Such wound that cause discouragement and make one downcast are often results of delay, disappointments, expectations cut off, unanswered prayers and trials we go through in the pursuit of our faith. Sometimes we fail to understand God’s dealing and life’s circumstances judging by the turn of events. We often ask why? What is God up to? “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh it is a tree of life” – Proverbs 13:12(KJV). This inability to always understand God’s dealings often result in discouragement and loss of hope. Sometimes it could appear that heaven is silent over our circumstances and challenges. Sometimes friends and brethren misunderstand us. Rather than encourage us they attack or criticize us. At such times, it often appears as if we are alone in our world.
We must learn to keep contact with the Holy Spirit who is our helper in such difficult and challenging times of life. One of Jesus’ ministries is to heal broken hearts (Luke 4:18). Has your soul been wounded and you are hurting deeply in the inside? Hear the word of God: “let your conversation be without covetousness, and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” – Hebrews 13:5(KJV)
PRAYER: Dear Lord, heal my broken heart.
