Bible Reading: Psalm 42; Rev. 2:20-29
“As with a sword in my bones, my enemies reproach me, while they say daily unto me, where is thy God?” – Psalm 42:10 (KJV).
The world need to see the God of the Christians. No one can commit to a God one does not know. True worship is preceded by a revelation. “Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship; for salvation is of the Jews” – John 4:22 (KJV). God reveals himself so he can establish relationship with his people.
God became flesh so he can reveal himself to man. The world saw the love of God; his mercy, kindness, longsuffering and severity are revealed in Jesus so that man will have no excuse before God. It takes rebellion to reject and resist Christ. Even when Jesus finished his ministry, he sent the Holy Spirit to reveal and manifest him. “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and God head; so that they are without excuse” Romans 1:20 (KJV).
Jesus revealed God as the healer, the miracle worker, the holy one, the saviour and the deliverer. He revealed God as a loving, caring and compassionate father full of grace and truth. He empowered the church, his body with the Holy Spirit so He can showcase the power, love, goodness and the salvation of God.
Christianity is not just playing church, it is revealing God. If our generation will see the goodness, the love, the power and the mercy of God, it is through the church. The triumphant church should arise boldly with power to showcase the goodness and greatness of her God. “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” – 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV).
The church (the Christians) need to come out of darkness into God’s marvelous light in order to showcase the praises of God. The sinners and the world need to see our God to compel them to bow at the name of Jesus.
PRAYER: O’ God show up in our challenges so that anything and anyone that questions your love, your power and commitment may bow in the name of Jesus.
