TOPIC: CHRIST IS THE POWER AND THE WISDOM OF GOD
Bible Reading: Exodus 34-36; Matthew 23:1-22
“But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.” – 1 Corinthians 1:24
Wisdom and power are two things the world craves for but has been given to us in Christ Jesus and as believers we need to know where the power of the faith that we profess lie. It is in the message of the gospel. Paul said in Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek .”
The same message of the gospel that bears the power and wisdom of God is being despised. The bible says in 1 Corinthians 1:22 (NLT), “It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom.”
Sadly, but true, most people in the world today fall into one of these categories. Like the Jews, either they are constantly seeking signs (a display of power) in order to believe or like the Greeks, they are constantly seeking wisdom – intelligence, logics, science and philosophy. It’s like this because fallen man is ruled by the senses and would always want what will appeal to his/her senses in order to believe.
Like the Greeks, many pride themselves in being erudite scholars who are highly philosophical and scientific. They will not believe anything that doesn’t appeal to logic and scientific facts. When Paul went to the Greeks in Athens to preach, they brought him to their square and ask him to explain (Acts 17:21-22). Many people are still like this today.
As a child of God, you must know that Christ is the wisdom of God! Christ is God’s logic for life! It may sound foolish to think that a mortal man can outrun a King’s chariot but that is God’s wisdom at work when you believe. It is even foolishness to think that the savior of the world will come from a lineage that has a prostitute, a crook, idol worshippers and a con man but the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 1:27 that, “…God hath CHOSEN the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.” it defies logic how God has made you a wonder to your world because you believe.
Keep believing the gospel of Jesus Christ, rely totally on His Word as He will do amazing things in your life that would leave the world astounded. If you give time to the word of God, it will give you results that will outlive time because the power is in the message.
