Bible Reading: Num. 31; 32; 33. Mark: 9:1-25
“Jesus said unto him, if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth” – Mark 9:23 (KJV)
You cannot operate in faith for what you don’t believe in. Believe is the strength behind faith operation. We exercise faith based on our believe. That is why Jesus often a time will asked the recipient of His healing if they believe. In our passage of today, Jesus brought the father of the epileptic boy to the point of believing, thereby releasing his faith for the eventual deliverance of his son. It is expedient in our Christian race to put our strong believe in the working mighty power in God through His word. His words are quick and powerful and they are life.
The English dictionary define believe as: (1) To accept as true, particularly without absolute certainty, (2) To accept that someone is telling the truth. So genuine believe is premised on truth. The word of God is the truth and Jesus is the Word of God incarnated. So when we believe in the word we accept it as truth and consequently the scripture says “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free” – John 8:32 (KJV) and to further elucidate the power that comes from believe which means accepting the truth we are sanctified as Christian through the truth.(John 17:17&19). Believe is really the power behind the operation of faith. It is for this reason that effective prayer of a Christian is based on the Word and faith (believe). When we pray believing and applying the word of God our prayer becomes unstoppable just as James said “…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” -James 5:16b (KJV). A righteous man is one who believe in the Word of God and live by it. So when such a person travail in prayer in God’s presence tremendous powers are released for accomplishment of his prayer.
My dear reader the prison warder asked Paul and Silas ‘what must I do to be saved?’. The same answer given by Paul is what I give you today, ‘believe and accept Jesus Christ into your life and thou shall be saved’.
Prayer: Father help me to believe you in all that you said in your word
