TOPIC: ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE
Bible Reading: Numbers 31- 33. Mark: 10:1-31
“And Jesus looking upon them saith, with men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible” Mark 10:17(KJV)
Our focal scripture for today is a very popular Christian dictum that most persons can quote closing their eyes. However, we will strive to throw more light on it and give it flesh in order to drive home some salient points. Man is a creation of God with so much imperfections and limitation. These imperfections and limitation were placed on man at the fall of man at Eden. Prior to the fall, man performed the notable act of giving names to all animals both on land and in the waters. This act in itself, when considered from the human perspective today, can be regarded as impossible.
Most limitations we have as human is a product of sin. For example, death came upon man as a result of sin. The authority, power and dominion given to man was lost to Satan at the garden of Eden. This singular act of sin removed the power and glory of God in man which consequently placed the great burden of limitation on humanity. “And the LORD God said, Behold man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of tree of life, and eat, and live for ever” Genesis 3:22(KJV). This was the Genesis of impossibility with man, because we lost spiritual knowledge and discernment.
At this point, we inherited the nature of limitation as we were completely dislodged from spiritual realm. We descended into the carnal or physical realm and began to operate by sight which is within the five senses called nature. However, Christ Jesus in redemption came for the restoration of all things inclusive of spiritual knowledge and discernment which we lost at Eden through Adam. These also include immortality which came by the work of Christ at the Cross. “But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel” 2 Timothy 1:10 (KJV). This is that translation we have received through Jesus Christ from darkness to His marvellous kingdom (Colossians 1:13).
At redemption we had the regeneration of our dead spirit by the Holy Spirit thereby transporting and equipping us with the sonship of God and His divine nature. The vehicle for this transformation is the word of God. This is what the scripture meant in 2 Peter 1:3-4(KJV) “according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” Hence before His death and resurrection when He sealed the redemption of man Christ made the statement of our focal scriptures. He, however, taught His disciple that the power of believe or faith in Him and the word of God releases possibility of all things to man. Faith in Christ Jesus and the word of God as products of His redemption releases to the realm of possibility of all things. The scriptures affirms as follow:- “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you” Mathew 17:20 (KJV).
Again Jesus Christ reiterated the power of faith in God and His word in Mark 9:23(KJV) “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth” We have witnessed diverse miracles that ordinarily would have been considered impossible as a result of faith in God and His Word. The lame worked, the dead raised, the born blind see, women confirmed without fallopian tube gave birth to children. All these possibilities are predicated on the redemptive work of Christ.
My dear reader, Christ died on the cross to buy back the authority and glory we lost to the devil at Eden and to properly position us as the sons of God and Him(Christ) being “….the head of the Church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the pre-eminence” Colossians 1:18(KJV). It is on this premise that I request you to find your way back to God.
Prayer: Father, give me grace to remain strong in my believe and faith in You and Your Word in other for me to live a life of all possibilities.
