Bible Reading: Psalm 73-74; Romans 5.
Memory Verse: “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope:” Romans 5:3-4 (KJV)
Some people have been fed with the wrong notion that once you accept Jesus, you are free from troubles and challenges. This is not correct as God only promised us that we will have peace with him through our Lord Jesus Christ as long as we have faith in him. Romans 5:1-2 (KJV) says, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” As Christians, we are expected to rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Apostle Paul says you will have tribulations.
What is tribulation? it is defined as severe afflictions, or distresses of life. When such come, you are expected to draw close to God to seek his face and this process will give you patience as it may take time for it to be addressed. Such patience implies that you would have garnered some experiences. Such experiences are to help you have more hope in God.
So when you are afflicted, you should recognize that it is another form of endurance building hope in the glory of God in you. That’s why Apostle Paul writes in Romans 5:3-5 (KJV), “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; [4] And patience, experience; and experience, hope: [5] And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”
It is also important to note that having been tempted, our Lord Jesus knows the challenges associated with such and so will restrain satan from tempting you beyond your capacity. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV) says, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
No matter the tribulation you may be going through whether in health, relationship, career, business, ministry or family, ensure you do not despair about the goodness of God like the wife of Job who asked her husband to curse God and die (Job 2:9), usurp God’s power no matter your level of Anointing or doing anything that will glorify satan instead of God. That is why you should be patient in all you go through like our Lord Jesus. Always remember what Peter said in 1 Peter 2:20 (KJV), “For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.”
