Bible Reading: Isaiah 19:1-end
“Where are they? Where are thy wise men? And let them tell thee now, and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt” – Isaiah 19:12(KJV)
In ancient times those who are spiritual consultants in the king’s court were called wise men. These men consist of different sects of spiritual practices such as the star gazers, astrologers, astronomers, magicians, sorcerers, Chaldeans, mystics etc. These elements were entrenched in the various palaces by Satan for the purpose of continuous enslavement and captivity of humanity. They fed fat from the rulers tables while polluting the entire nations and kingdoms with their demonic activities. Through divinations and enchantment, they carry out their nefarious activities by bringing Kingdoms under the influence of the devil. This was the case with the Gentile nations. They were called wise men.
Examples abound of the prominent roles they played in the affairs of kingdoms and the decisions of different world monarchs that ruled the world. In Egypt: “Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments” – Exodus 7:11 (KJV) . In Babylon: “Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams….” – Daniel 2:2 (KJV). This is the mystery Babylon. Men of ancient worldly wisdom who through the palaces polluted the world with satanic transgressions as typically illustrated in Revelation 17:5(KJV) “And upon her forehead was a name written MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH”. In Revelation 17:3, John the Apostle saw a woman that was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. In Revelation 17: 9-10 the bible said the seven heads are seven mountains, representing seven kings and their kingdoms. As at the time of John the Apostle, five have fallen, one was then and the other was not yet come. These were thrones where satanic activities and pollution resulting from the harlotry and abomination of the earth as represented by idolatry took place. It is these wisdom Apostle James referred to as devilish in James 3:15(KJV). “This wisdom descended not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.” This wisdom creates envy and strife that results in confusion and every evil work. It is the possessors of such wisdom that the world call wise men. These are the one referred to in our scriptural verse of today.
However, the bible in the book of James talks about the true wisdom that is from above as been pure, peaceable, gentle, easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. The wisdom in reference is the wisdom of God, who in the abundance of His mercy extended His love towards us by sending a deliverer and savior to rescue us from satanic dungeon of captivity. That wisdom is Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 1:24). As Christians it is expected that we possess this wisdom, being custodian of the good fruit which is the fruit of the Spirit. Hence we are the redeemed of the Lord delivered from the kingdom of darkness where earthly, sensual and devilish wisdom rule and translated us into the kingdom of His dear son (Jesus Christ) were the wisdom from above rules in quietness and in sublime peaceful habitations. This is the true wisdom and the possessor of such wisdom is truly wise. We become recipients of the true wisdom when we surrender to Christ in true repentance and accept him as Lord and savior of our life.
Prayer: Father, possess me continuously with the wisdom from above.
