Topic: Hope in God’s promises never disappoint us.
Bible Reading: Psalm 73-74; Romans 5.
Memory Verse: “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” Romans 5:5 (KJV)
A few years ago, I wanted to sell most of the plots in one of our residential estates but the more I tried, the more I met blocked wall. I fasted, prayed and worshipped God seeking his face on the required sales but nothing came. Then I left it as there was nothing I could do. Later, I realized that if we had made all the sales, there would have been significant deficit in our cashflow and profitability such that we would have incurred several hundreds of million Naira losses as we had a lot of uncompleted work at the estate at the time.. However because we couldn’t sell, we were able to raise the price and sell the land at the higher price thus covering the losses/gap we would have had! It was then that it dawned on me that as in “Romans 8:28 (KJV), ”And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
God has made several promises to us in His Word and it is our responsibility to seek out those promises and appropriate them by praying them into our lives and checking that we adhere to the conditions necessary to have those promises. In general we tend to complicate simple matters of life by worrying or insinuating things that do not exist. So when you have difficult times, all you need is to examine your life if you are living right with God? If not, please make necessary amendment and if you are, be patient knowing that God loves you and must be working something better for you. Your patience will give you a better understanding of the circumstance and so that becomes an experience for you. Such experience should also lead you to hope in God and his promises that will not disappoint you. The Bible says in Romans 5:5 (KJV), “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”
However, it is important that in your waiting period, you should continue to work diligently in whatever you are doing. God expects His children to be diligent in all they do as reflected in the parable of talents Jesus stated in Matthew 25: 14-29, just like the Bible says in Proverbs 22:29 (KJV), “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.” Thereafter, maintain your faith in God because He is just and will never put you to shame as long as you remain obedient to Him.
Prayer point: Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, please give me grace to continuously trust in you whatever I am passing through.
