…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 04/11/2018

Bible Reading: Esther 2; Hebrews 2:10-18

“For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings” – Hebrews 2:11 (KJV)

The captain of our salvation is no other than Jesus Christ. He did not just become the esteemed Captain but passed through some unpleasant experiences for our sake. God’s eternal plan was to bring many sons into glory. For this to happen, there must be agonising moment as of the woman in travail. The essence of the brutality He received was seen in the fact of His decision to sanctify His brethren. What a great privilege we have for the Son to call us brethren. This is only possible for Christ to do because of the nature with which He came on the scene – human nature, not that of an angel:  “For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham” – Hebrew 2:16 (KJV).

It is amazing to know that the writer of Hebrew puts us and our sanctifier on the same pedestal… “For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren” – Hebrew 2:11 (KJV). Jesus helps us to see the clearer picture as stated in this bible passage: “Jesus saith unto her, touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God” – John 20:17 (KJV). Christ’s Father is our father. His God is our God.

Since Jesus Christ then appeared in this manner as the Captain of our salvation, He did not only sanctify us but also delivered us from the fear of death. Maybe you are given to the fear of death in any form, never worry, Christ won the victory over it long time ago and this is still valid even now. He was made like us in order that we might enjoy His mercy and to reconcile us back to God.. “And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ… to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them…” 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 (KJV). Have you applied yourself to Christ reconciliatory work at Calvary which is made available to reconcile you to God?

Prayer: Dear Father, help me get closer to the Captain of my salvation in Jesus name.
