Bible Reading: 2 Chron. 2; Phil. 2:16-30
“For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.” – Philippians 2:21 KJV
It is common to hear people say they are born again. It is also common to see most of these people doing things that cannot be associated with Christ such as lying, cheating, and backbiting among others. Then you begin to wonder what it means to be born again.
A number of people have come to take being born again as a fad; they accept Jesus with their mouth but are not born again in heart. Hence such people maintain their character prior to giving their life to Christ implying nothing has truly changed in them.
Being born again or accepting Jesus implies accepting a change. A change in heart to that of Christ and consequent change in behaviour to reflect that of Jesus. So if you are “born again” and nothing significant has changed in your life, then you need to examine your life as you are most likely not born again.
To be born again means changing things that you were doing before that were not in line with the word of God to align with God. For example , if you were lying, stealing, fornicating or often get angry before you gave your life but now after, you do not do those things anymore in obedience to the word of God. So you made up your mind not to bow to the dictates of your flesh but to fulfill God’s purpose for your life on earth. Ecclesiastes 12:13 KJV says, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”
So, we must reverence God in everything and obey his commandments. We must seek to please God and not man. This means, seeking to do things of God at all times. Unfortunately, men naturally seek their interest as the common question is “what is in it for me?” This is well stated by Apostle Paul in Philippians 2:21 KJV, “For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.”
To seek Christ, we need to align with Matthew 6:33 KJV, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” When we seek this, then we become a true image of Christ and we can then begin to do the kind of miraculous works that he did and even greater ones as stated in John 14:12. God will give you the grace to conform to His image in total obedience.
God will use you to do exploits and make you a kingdom changer in Jesus name.
Prayer: Father, thank you for saving my life, please use me to do exploits in your kingdom in Jesus name.
