TOPIC: BE SPIRITUALLY MINDED
Bible Reading: Exodus 37-38; Matthew 23:23-39
“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” – Romans 8:6 (KJV)
As a child of God, it is normal to see unsaved people seemingly doing well and you may be tempted to ask, “these people don’t go church, neither do they tithe nor read the bible and yet they seem to be having it so well.” You don’t have to envy the unsaved in anyway because what you have in God is stable and sure. Life is spiritual and this life is lived from a spiritual dimension as we guard our thoughts.
Eternal life, peace with God and the certainty of your eternal destination are not worth trading with anything on this earth. These are the things you have as a believer that the unsaved will do anything to have but the reason you aren’t enjoying this life is because your ‘mind’ is set on the wrong things. The day you got saved, there were better things that came attached to your new spiritual condition of life such as peace, healing, prosperity, supernatural ability (Hebrews 6:9) etc. but they only become your experience when you set your mind on them.
The quality of your life is based on the quality of your thoughts! You must keep your mind on spiritual things because life is first spiritual (inward) before it is material (outward). What happens in your mind is what regulates your material world. Our text in Romans 8:6 (KJV) says, “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” What this means is that; if your mind is constantly fixed on only the things that your senses and its impulses tell you, your life will end in failure or death. If you only keep thinking on how you feel, what the symptoms are, what your bank account statement is reading, how everyone is making progress except you; who likes you and who doesn’t, you will eventually end up struggling, suffering lack, going from hospital to hospital and it could cost you your life even though you are born again.
The truth is your mindset regulates your experiences. If you are spiritually minded, you will have and enjoy life and peace – which is wholeness or total prosperity. This is why it is important to keep God’s Word in your thoughts. Hold on to the things that scripture says are yours because of your union with God through Christ Jesus.
Simple example with this scripture Colossians 1:14 (KJV) which says, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins” To be spiritually minded means that you take this scripture and you begin to view life through it. You begin to mutter to yourself, “I have been redeemed because of the blood of Jesus which is the very blood and life of God. The power of death – lack, failure, defeat, heartache and frustration – is broken over my life. This means there is no way I can fail in any assignment that I undertake. Glory to God!” Thinking like this leads to life and peace.
DECLARE: I am spiritually minded and living the wonderful, marvelous and victorious life in Christ Jesus.
