Bible Reading: Judges 15-17; Luke 10: 1-24.
Memory Verse: “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.” Luke 10:20 (KJV)
In Basic economics, we were taught about the scale of preference. When you have several things you need to do you are expected to rank them in order of importance to you starting with the most important and going down to the least important. That is the scale of preference for you.
Using that scale, you need to prioritize your life engagements. Working for God and ensuring that you make heaven, which one is more important though they are all necessary. Some believers are very zealous for God and so are ready to do any work concerning things of God. This is very important but there is order in things of God. What should be uppermost in your heart is knowing God and ensuring that you are working in knowledge of him so that your work for God will not be in vain. Jesus Christ stated this clearly to the disciples when they came back after evangelism and were rejoicing that the evil powers bowed to them at the mention of the name Jesus. ( Luke 10: 17). He said in Luke 10:20 (KJV) “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.”
Is your name written in heaven? Are you walking in the Spirit of God. Saul was zealous for God but did not know him and was in deed working against God until he met the Lord Jesus Christ on his way to Damascus and he was saved! ( Acts 9:1-6). No wonder, the same Saul (now Paul) stated of his fellow Israelites in Romans 10:2 (KJV) “For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.” It is very important to know the Lord Jesus has saved you and that your name is written in heaven. How do you know? The Bible says in 1 John 3:8 (KJV), “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” Committeth in this verse means practices. If you are truly born again, you will not be sinning often but may fall into sin once in a while and you feel remorseful and repent immediately. However if you sin often, then you are not being led by the Holy Spirit and needs to examine your salvation!
Brethren, where do you belong? It is not late for you to retrace your steps and rededicate your life to God by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour believing that He was crucified for your sins and resurrected the third day and begin to study the word of God so that you can serve our Lord Jesus Christ in true knowledge of Him.
Action Point: Please examine yourself if you are still in the faith and if not surrender your life today to Jesus Christ to save you.
