“And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan”. – 1 Kings 17:2-3 KJV.
Our God is ready to provide all our needs but we are often surrounded by so much noise that we do not hear when he gives us instructions on the way forward. He says in Psalm 32:8 KJV“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye”. So he has promised to instruct and teach us. He further stated in Philippians 4:19 KJV “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus”.
We all know that Gods riches are innumerable and he promised to supply all our needs. Why then are we not getting our needs? Let’s look at what happened to Elijah in 1 Kings 17. God gave specific instructions to him on where he should go in 1 Kings 17:3,5 KJV “Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. [5] So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord : for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan”. It was there that the raven, a stingy bird had to go and give him food. Imagine if he had turned west when God asked him to turn east. He would not have been able to get the water or even the food.
And even when the brook dried up, God asked him to go to Zarephath and dwell there. He already made provisions for him from unusual source; a woman that has only a meal left for herself and her child all her life! God has a sense of humour! He used the prophet to decree abundance into the life of the widow and that catered for the needs of the woman, her son and the prophet!
God shows the benefit of obedience to his word in both the life of Elijah and the widow woman. Every area of your life where there is insufficiency, the Lord will turn it around and you will have more than enough in Jesus name.
Prayer: Father, remove from me every noise that will not allow me to hear your instructions and teachings in Jesus name.
