Topic: Stick To God’s Words
Bible Reading: Genesis 12,13,14; Matthew 5:25-48
“For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV).
All believers wish, among others, that they could hear God whenever He speaks. Hearing His voice is one thing and obeying that voice to the full is another entirely. Abram, at 75 years of age heard God’s voice and acted immediately. God’s plans and purpose are definately for our good. In His plan for us lies our peace and the colourful destiny He wants us to enjoy here on earth. However, some discomforts may arise to test your resolve in following His word to the latter.
Abram was with his father, his people and his household but was commanded by God to move out to a strange land. The thought of the inconvenience one would face along the way to an unknown land is enough to keep Abram back. In fact, a lot of people have missed out on God’s plan for their lives by reasoning out God’s command. Abram never reasoned nor conferred with anyone.
Then this happened, “And there was famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land” Genesis 12:10 (KJV). The fact that God is leading you does not mean you won’t encounter hardship on the way. Remember, whenever He reveals His plan the enemy swings into action to distract us and lead us out of God’s plan.
Have you heard from God and are still doing that which He commands? The system of this world will try to work against the plan God has revealed to you. But a sure sign that will follow you is peace in your heart despite the circumstances around you. Even Jesus, who was sent directly from heaven, encountered so many difficulties before He could fulfill purpose.
You will hear from God this month as He prepares you for the journey ahead. Make up your mind to stick to whatever He tells you. Remember, He sees your heart.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for Your plans for me, I ask for grace to follow and walk in Your plan till the end.
