Topic: Is your life secured?
Bible Reading: Judges 18-19; Luke 10:25-42.
Memory Verse: “And they said, Arise, that we may go up against them: for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good: and are ye still? be not slothful to go, and to enter to possess the land.” Judges 18:9 (KJV)
In Judges 18, we read about the children of Dan who sent five men from their family to spy the land of Laish to know if they could go and fight them and deprive them of their belongings and land. When they got there, they found out that the people there were careless, quiet with sense of security but had no security or judicial officers and were isolated (Judges 18:7). This fitted the target of the Danites and in no time, they chose six hundred men to war against the land and take it over. The Spies told other children of Dan in Judges 18:9 (KJV), “And they said, Arise, that we may go up against them: for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good: and are ye still? be not slothful to go, and to enter to possess the land.” And they went there, burnt it down, captured it, rebuilt the city and dwelt there. ( Judges 18:27-29).
This is similar to how the demons and satan operate. They come to check you and if they find your life well garnished, with a lot of potentials without any serious security, they go back to call others to join them and come to take over your life and run your affairs. And if they find out that your security is one of them, they will easily cooperate with it ( just like the Danites easily co-opted the Priest at Micah’s house into their midst).
On the other hand, if they came to spy and find out that there are angels guarding you and protecting you all the time, they will go back and look for other careless people while keeping an eye on you in case you send your security personnel away! The security are Angels of God. They are there to guide you every time once you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and continue to live a life of holiness.
Is your security on guard whether you are awake or asleep? Are you well secured? You are if you are born again and live a life of obedience. On the other hand, if you are not born again or you are neither cold nor hot, then you are exposed and in great danger! But alas, there is a way out, just surrender your life to Jesus, confess your sins to him, forsake the sins and begin to life a life of total obedience to the word of God.
Action Point:
If you are still living in sin, please confess them to Jesus this morning , ask for forgiveness and determine to live a life of holiness from now on.
