…Spreading the gospel of Christ

Bible Reading: Psalm 78; Romans 7.

Memory Verse: “They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.” Psalm 78:42 (KJV)

Most people focus on today and easily forget what happened the previous days. However, God expects you to remember the good things He has done for you in the past. This is what is stated essentially in psalm 78. God stated that the Israelites forgot the days he delivered them from the shackles of bondage under the Egyptians. Neither did they remember the fact that He parted the Red Sea so that they could escape permanently from their oppressors, the Egyptians who were later drowned in the same Red Sea! This is why the Psalmist says in Psalm 78:42 (KJV) “They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.”

While you may be wondering how the Israelites could have done that, the question is are you not following their foot steps? When last did you glorify God for the grace to breathe unhindered or even see with your eyes. Or you take those things for granted like the Israelites did. However, it is critical to always appreciate God regularly for those things. I used to take all those things for granted until I woke up one morning and I found out that I could not see clearly with my left eye. It appeared there was a covering over it. I had to go to the hospital after the “covering “ refused to go only to be told by the doctor that I had developed cataracts! Nobody hit me on the eye neither did I hit my head against anything, rather it occurred suddenly though the doctor said, it was developing for a while but I did not notice it! Then I tried to drive only to find out I was not seeing quite well as I used to.

You need to remember the good old days that God kept your body parts functioning, such that you could see, breathe, walk unhindered among others and thank God for such blessings. Show appreciation for those things that you take for granted and see how He will bless you with other things. My people say in our dialect that a hunter that hunted and makes sacrifice; it’s not for the animals he has killed but for those he intends to kill in future!

Thus in Luke 17:12-19; Jesus Christ saw ten lepers and healed them but only one came back to show appreciation and imagine what Jesus Christ did to that one in Luke 17:19 (KJV) “And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.” He got additional blessing!

Action Point:

Think of various blessings that God has given you and express unusual thanksgiving to him.
