Bible reading: Proverbs 11-12; 1 Corinthians 15:33-58
Memory verse: “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” 1 Corinthians 15:57 (KJV)
Shortly before he gave up the ghost, Jesus Christ said ‘it is finished’ (John 19:30). A lot was going on in the spirit world as he lay dying on the cross. All the pains, evils and challenges piled on sinful humans were being transferred on Him. He bore it all.
Isaiah 53:6 (KJV) tells us, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” This affirms the extent of the love of God as John 3:16 (KJV) tells us, “For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” It was this love of God for man and Jesus obedience to the Father’s will that made victory possible for man. However, there is work to do.
You must believe in the finished work of Christ on the cross to partake of this victory. The work has been done already. But believing is yours to do to appropriate and enjoy what has been handed to you. Victory here means a total and complete victory in every area of your life and overall the power of the adversary. This victory is a gift from God domiciled in Jesus Christ. Thus, no situation under heaven or underneath the earth or anywhere can hold you down! The name of Jesus has the power to lift everything off. He says, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth” (Matthew 28:18b) and at the mention of the name of Jesus every knee bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth (Phil 2:10-11).
So fill your mind with the promises of God and begin to see yourself partaking of them. Never let anything make you doubt these promises because the victory wroth on the cross has paved the way for you. However, you are the only one capable of stopping yourself. Don’t depend on anything else; man, money, certificates, etc. just believe in the finished work and consider it done.
Remember, victory over sickness, disease, hunger, and over all the plagues on man is only possible for those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal saviour.
Prayer: Father, open my eyes to see the promises pertaining to me and the grace to believe and partake of them in Jesus name.
