Bible Reading: Daniel 5, 6, 7; 2 John 1
Memory Verse: “Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.” Daniel 6:4 KJV
Faithfulness to God is obedience to his word. Doing what the word says you should do. This is exactly what Daniel was doing. Praying regularly to his God though there was a sudden law of the land which prohibited him from praying to his God. However he chose to remain faithful to God at the expense of his life. It is impressive that critics of Daniel researched areas where Daniel had committed a crime before but could not find except using his God to trap him because of his faithfulness!
How faithful are you to God? If a review of your lifestyle is done, can you come out clean like Daniel? This is what God means when he says in 1 John 3:9 (KJV) “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.”
How deep is the seed of God in you? What is your price for faithfulness? There was nothing in case of Daniel, same in case of the three Hebrew boys in Daniel 3. This is what holiness is about. Are you ready to lay your life down in order to remain holy? Examine your business, finance, career, relationship, family and identify areas you need to reconsecrate yourself to God. Our God knows your intention and can attest to your faithfulness or otherwise to him. But it’s not late yet. You can still make amends and rededicate yourself to him in every area of your life.
There will always be those who will find ways of making you compromise on your faithfulness. This is what the devil did to Eve and Adam in Genesis 3:1-6. Unfortunately they fell for the trick but Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego did not fall for a similar trap. Will you fall for the trap? You need to cry to God Almighty to give you the grace to remain faithful to him inspite of temptations and trials. As we saw in the book of Daniel, such temptations are meant to show case the glory of God and won several souls to the kingdom of God. In both cases in Chapters 3 and 6 of Daniel, the Kings called on the people to serve the Almighty king after the believers overcame the temptations. And they were rewarded! How are you seeking your reward? Remember the first line of action is stated in Matthew 6:33 (KJV) “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” This will enable you live a life of holiness and cause the Holy Spirit to guide you to live above board like Daniel whose testimony is stated in Daniel 6:4 (KJV) “Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.”
