Bible Reading: Psalm 46: Revelation 5: 1-14
“And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth” – Revelation 5:10 (KJV).
Christians are preparing to reign with Christ in heaven without first accepting the mandate to reign on earth. God’s pattern and plan is for believers to first reign here on earth before going to heaven. The kingdom of God is already established on earth and it behooves believers to take their rightful place in Christ as kings and exercise kingdom rule. It is our responsibility as believers to ensure that the kingdom of God comes into every sphere of the society and that his will be done on earth as is in heaven. “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” – Matthew 6:9-10 (KJV).
God’s reign begins in our lives as we commit to the Lordship of Christ. Such reign extends to our communities, society and our world as we take our rightful places and exercise kingdom power and authority, as we influence the society with kingdom values and godly principles through preaching, teaching and lifestyle evangelism. We are to take territories for God and his kingdom; we are to take families and nations for our king. This is what it means to occupy till Jesus comes. It is a place of influence, power and authority, and it is a place of leadership. We are to insist and ensure that God’s will be done in our various worlds.
To reign is to rule, to take charge, to exercise authority and leadership, to guide and proffer solution, to dominate and control. We are to reign as kings over satan and his cohorts, over sin and the kingdom of darkness, over sicknesses, diseases and infirmities. We are kingdom of priests, kings and prophets. We are to showcase the praises of God who has called us out of darkness into his marvelous light.
PRAYER: Lord, enable me to truly reign as king on earth.
