BIBLE READING: Leviticus 4,5, Mathew 24: 27-51
“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” – Mathew 24:35 (KJV)
Have you ever considered the weight of this statement from Jesus? It is not a light matter for heaven and the earth to pass away. One can imagine the negotiation that takes place and the considerations by government when a road is being constructed. A lot of considerations take place because of possible structures to be demolished and the resulting massive compensation by the government. Imagine Jesus saying that heaven and earth shall pass away. It becomes weightier to say that it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for his word to pass away. The whole world and the entire heaven will pass away but God’s word cannot pass away. He watches over his word to fulfill it.
God’s word is consistent, it does not fail. God’s word is powerful it cannot fail. Heaven and earth and the things in them were created and are sustained by the word of God. His word carries creative and healing power.
God’s word delivers and breaks yokes. “For the word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”. Hebrews 4:12 (KJV). No wonder the word is exalted above all his names.
The same word is eternal. “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him, and without him was not anything made that was made”. – John 1:1-3 (KJV).
The word of God is like fire that burns, like hammer that breaks and like water that refreshes.
Prayer: Dear Lord, may your word create my harvest in Jesus name.
