Topic: More than Conquerors
Bible Reading: Psalm 82-84; Romans 8:19-39.
Memory Verse: “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” Romans 8:37 (KJV)
Recently, a group of missionaries were kidnapped by a militant group in Nigeria, called Boko Haram. They were kept in very difficult and traumatizing conditions. Some of them were shot at close range, cutlasses were used to instill fear in them but in all cases, the militants group saw that the missionaries were not broken and they saw that they were protected by an invisible force, so they released them after several days without loosing any of them.
The missionaries came to give testimony of God’s faithfulness because inspite of their attack including torture, the group remained steadfast to the surprise of their attackers!
In some other cases, your trials may be in form of sickness or disease or even financial distress. All these are meant to separate you from the love of Christ but if you maintain your faith in Christ and keep alive His love for you, then no such challenge will cause you to bow to such situations. This is why the Bible says in Romans 8:35 (KJV), “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”. He further stated in the following verses of Romans 8:38-39 (KJV), “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, [39] Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
So whatever you are going through, keep your faith in Christ alive, remain steadfast, recognizing nothing can happen to you without the knowledge of God and He will protect His own no matter the circumstances. That is why Apostle Paul said in Romans 8:37 (KJV), “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” This is the understanding that the three Hebrew boys had when they were faced with death by fire for refusing to bow before an idol. Thats what Daniel 3:16-18 (KJV) says, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. [17] If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. [18] But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.”
Prayer point:
Father, help me to remember always that I am more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ that loved me.
