Bible Reading: Daniel 11-12; 3 John 1.
Memory Verse: “Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.” 3 John 1:11 (KJV).
Anyone who truly gives his life to Christ becomes a new creation from that moment because his sins are forgiven and a new Spirit of God is given to him ( 2 Corinthians 5:17). He is supposed to live a new life patterned after Christ from then onward. However, this new life depends on the choices you make thereafter. You will have the Spirit of God directing you and the flesh urging you to move in a different direction. Who you follow thereafter tells where you end up. This is why the Bible says you need to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. ( Philippians 2:12 ). If you follow the leading of the Spirit in your life, your behavior will be patterned after the following:
Love; which is an intrinsic value for those who are followers of Christ. You cannot truly call yourself a Christian if you do not exhibit love in your daily activities. 1 John 4:8 (KJV) says, “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” No matter the circumstance, offering a helping hand of love is what sets you apart from the rest of the world. God loves you, even when you don’t reflect the same image in return. You owe it to others to offer them this same reality in your Christian life.
Joy: As a true child of God, you are expected to radiate joy in every area of your life. The more you are joyful, the more you repel satan because it is more comfortable with sorrow. That is why it’s assignment is to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). On the other hand, joy strengthens you (Nehemiah 8:10) and makes you stand inspite of any storm raging around you.
Peace: You are expected to be at peace with everyone as much as possible ( Romans 12:18). In your place of work, at home, in church or any other gathering, God expects his child to maintain peace everywhere. That is why He says we should not render evil for evil but to follow that which is good!
Another Important behavioral pattern a Christian should exhibit is Patience. God expects you to be patient even in the midst of provocations. That is why the Bible says in Hebrews 10:36 (KJV), “For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise” This may not always be the easiest task, but it will always be the right path to choose.
Prayer point: Father, please help me to always follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.
