Topic: Walking in Truth
Bible Reading: Daniel 11-12; 3 John 1.
Memory Verse: “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” 3 John 1:4 (KJV)
In the Bible, walk denotes behaviour or lifestyle. For example, walking in our memory verse, 3 John 1:4 implies living or behaving in a specified manner. And in Acts 9:31; the Bible uses walking to imply living. Similarly in Romans 14:15; walketh is used to mean behaving. And “truth” in our memory verse is the interpretation of a Greek word which means “the good news about Jesus Christ, especially as a message that conforms to (and answers) the nature of reality.”
So walking in the truth therefore means living in line with the scripture or living as an imitator of Christ. For you to live in line with the scripture, you need to know it. This means you should set aside time to study the word of God so that you can know the Lord Jesus Christ more. Joshua puts it this way in Joshua 1:8 (KJV), “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” So, its not just knowing what is stated but memorizing it, meditating on it, and obeying it. That is why Apostle Paul said to Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV), “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
You need to be conscious of the Holy Spirit within you and be sensitive to his leading so that you can constantly walk with Christ because the Holy Spirit will continuously teach and guide you through the Lord’s path as long as you obey Him. Jesus Christ said in John 14:26 (KJV), “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
Also critical is the need to constantly fellowship with Jesus Christ. You need to worship and pray to him regularly so that you can develop intimacy with him and thus begin to live your life like him!
When you begin to walk in the truth, your spiritual life will be strengthened as the Lord will be pleased with you just like John stated in 3 John 1:4 (KJV), “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” In fact, you will also be manifesting signs of spiritual life and people around will testify of it. Thus they testified of the truth in Gaius in 3 John 1:3 (KJV), “For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.” It will show to the world in no time and your entire walk and heart will align with Jesus Christ and you will by your character be preaching Christ to others because action speaks louder than voice!
Prayer point:
Father give me the grace to walk in your truth for the rest of my life in Jesus name.
