…Spreading the gospel of Christ

BIBLE READING: Leviticus 6, 7; Mathew 25: 1-28

“For the kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods, and unto one he gave five talents, to another two and to another one; to every man according to his several abilities; and straightway took his journey” – Mathew 25: 14-15 (KJV).

Our relevance and usefulness in life is dependent on our ability or capacity. Some vehicles have the capacity to carry big luggage while others can only carry small luggage. In the same vein, different people have different capacities, not necessarily by birth, but by personal development. While some people are committed to personal development, others do little or nothing about it. Mental, spiritual, financial, material, ministerial, career and leadership capacity are some of the areas we should commit to developing to enable us live a life of contribution and relevance.

The above scriptural reference shows the place of capacity development. The man travelling to a far country refers to Jesus and the far country refers to heaven. Jesus was preparing to return to heaven to come back again and demand accountability from the servants. The master gave the goods or talents according to the capacities or abilities of the servants. There is no respect of persons or partiality with God. The man that was given five goods has over time developed his ability while the servants that received only one talent showed little or no commitment to capacity development. He proved to have only the capacity to keep but not to grow things. The more we build our capacity the more problem we can solve and the more blessing we can be to God and to our generation.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to commit to personal capacity building and to helping others build their capacity.

Rev. Vincent Diolu
