Bible Reading: Psalm 77
“I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old. I will meditate also of all thy works, and talk of thy doings” – Psalm 77:11-12 (KJV)
God’s creations are full of wonders. Meditating on the works of the LORD, His marvelous work can be very inspiring. When we begin to consider the vastness of the universe, the quantum amount of water in the ocean and sea, the hugeness of the mountains, the intimidating nature of the hills and the beauty of the sky and the heavens we are bound to appreciate how great our God is. No wonder the bible says: “Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things” – Psalm 72:18(KJV).
God’s works and wonders are worth talking about. The vastness of the universe is mind blowing. A vivid description of the wonders of God’s creativity is stated in Amos 5:8(KJV), “Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: the LORD is his name”. God’s creation is a great marvel that can humble any wise man. This why the bible says “The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God…..” – Psalm 14:1(KJV). Seriously speaking, only a fool – an individual who cannot relate with reality – will say there is no God in the presence of such wonderful and perfectly arranged marvels in creation.
The evidence of the existence of the Almighty God are clearly seen in the wonders of His creation. With all the scientific research and discoveries science has not been able to explain more than ninety percent of the mysteries in creation. Job has this to say about God, “which doeth great things past finding out: yea, and wonders without number” – Job 9:10(KJV). God’s creative power is a product of His wisdom. Like the Psalmist, my heart explodes within me in the declaration of the great works and wonders of our God, “That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of the wondrous works” -Psalm 26:7(KJV)
In all these the bible says that Jesus is the power and wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:24). The Psalmist further reiterated the place of God’s wisdom in creation, “O LORD how manifold are thy works! In wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches” –Psalm 104:24(KJV). By Christ Jesus God brought about the excellence and beauty of creation. By Christ Jesus also, God redeemed man to his original place of dominion over God’s creation. So when we appreciate and celebrate the work of redemption we are ascribing glory to the Almighty God who is the creator of all things and who alone does wondrous things. It is no wonder then that Jesus said in John 14:6(KJV), “I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me”. This a very profound statement that requires serious attention from the reader of this write-up, to take a life decision to come to Christ and abide in him.
Prayer: Father give me the grace to daily appreciate and celebrate you for your wonderful creation.
