Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 13, 14; Luke 10:1-21.
“Notwithstanding, in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.” – Luke 10:20 (KJVS).
There are many things that we desire and when those things occur, we rejoice so much. In addition, when we impact the lives of others positively, whether physically or spiritually, we ourselves rejoice and the people impacted also rejoice greatly. Often, those impacted come back to us showing appreciation and if it is a spiritual blessing, the beneficiary looks at you as a special anointed of God.
However God says, you should not rejoice in the fact that you can heal the sick, set the captives free or even raise the dead but rejoice that your name is written in heaven. So the main objective is not your superiority over the devil but that you are truly a child of God. That’s why the Lord Jesus says in Luke 10:20 (KJVS), “Notwithstanding, in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.”
This is clearly expounded in the scripture, when the Lord Jesus said: “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity” – Matthew 7:21-23 (KJVS).
While you are enjoined to help others physically, financially and spiritually, you need to ensure you are known by Jesus Christ. To be known by Him, you must have accepted him as your Lord and Saviour, continuously seek His face and obey His words at all times. Obedience is what can guaranty your continuous link with Him. It does not matter what the world may say about you, if you are not linked with Him at the time your journey on earth ends, your sojourn on earth is in vain. May your journey on earth never be in vain in Jesus name.
Prayer: Father, please write my name in the book of heaven and let me remain permanently linked to you in Jesus name.
