Topic: By Strength shall no man prevail
Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 1-3; Luke 12:1-34.
Memory Verse: “He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.” 1 Samuel 2:9 (KJV)
A very strongman in Ota, a western part of Nigeria was the head of diviners in the town and was feared by people who knew him and his powerful charms. But some young believers who went to the town some years ago visited the man in his house and preached the gospel to him. The man pitied the young believers and told them it was obvious they did not know him and where they were. However the young believers were oblivious of the man’s prowess and asked for any trouble he had not been able to solve.
And apparently, there was a man who had married several wives but each died at the time of childbirth. At the time, the man’s latest wife was bleeding in the house of the diviner as the witches in the area had decided to use the pregnant woman’s blood for their sacrifice. The diviners head could not stop the bleeding and other ladies had died from the same bleeding in the past. Nonetheless the young believers prayed for the pregnant woman and continued their evangelism to other houses. However after they left, the head of the diviners noted that the blood had stopped and called the believers to give his life to Christ as the believers had done what the diviner’s gods could not do for several years! Talk of David and Goliath!
It does not matter how much strength your adversary may have, what matters is who is your ally? If your ally is Jehovah Sabaoth, the man of War, then nothing can stop you from having victory irrespective of your opponent’s power.
However, Jesus Christ does not fight for everybody. He does so for only his children! Have you given your life to him, living a life of obedience to his words, regularly fellowshipping with him to keep you in His presence, then you can face any foe because Jesus Christ will fight your battles and your adversary better leave you alone or will ever regret fighting you?
Prayer point:
Father, prove your mightiness in all the challenges and storms facing me in Jesus name.
