TOPIC: SOMETHING WORTH SHOUTING ABOUT.
“For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.” Hebrews 2:10 (KJV)
As a believer, you are the child of God in the very same way that Jesus is the son of God. To be born again is to have the same status as Jesus before the Father. This means that you are as precious to God as Jesus is to Him and He does not love you less than He loves Jesus.
The Bible says in John 1:12-13 (KJV) , “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” As a believer, you are God’s begotten child the same way that Jesus is God’s begotten child. We have been born from the same spiritual womb.
The truth is, there was a time when Jesus was the ‘only’ begotten Son of God because only Him had this eternal life of God in the flesh. John 3:16 (KJV) says, “For God so loved the world that he gave HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” God, however, gave His only begotten Son Jesus so that everyone who believes in His substitutionary work on the cross would also have this eternal life and God would have many sons like our text says, “… in bringing MANY SONS unto glory…” Hebrews 2:10 (KJV). By believing in Jesus as the Son of God, you become the very ‘son of God.’ This everlasting life didn’t come by your ‘doing’ rather it came by your ‘believing!’
This explains why Apostle John in his first account of John 3:16 referred to Jesus as the ‘only begotten’ Son of God but when he saw Jesus in His resurrected present day ministry in the book of Revelations 1:5, he wrote, “… and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the FIRST BEGOTTEN of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him, that loved us, and WASHED US from our SINS IN HIS BLOOD.”
Today you are as much a child of God as Jesus is the Son of God and the consequence of this is that you have been brought into the glorious life of sonship. You have a right to everything that Jesus has a right to i.e. a glorious life! In the Old Testament mortal man could not share God’s glory. Isaiah 42:8 (KJV) says, “I am the LORD, that is My name; and MY GLORY I WILL NOT GIVE TO ANOTHER, nor My praise to carved images.” God, however, in the New Testament gives you the same glory that Jesus has because in Christ, you are not “another,” you are one with Him.That is something worth shouting about!
DECLARE: I am a begotten child of God whom He loves like He loves Jesus! I am a joint heir with Christ in everything.
