Bible Reading: Esther 7; Hebrews 5:1-7
“For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish…” – Esther 7:4a (KJV)
It has been said that ‘injury to one is an injury to all.’ Many today are suffering as a result of the injury that their forebear sustained which was not cured in the days of their fathers. Haman had earlier secured the approval of the king to destroy the Jews whereas, he did not know that the information of his nefarious plan had reached Queen Esther. In the wisdom God gave, she did not approach the matter with hurry but with a well calculated attempt. Haman had promised to pay money into the treasury of the king. Hear Haman speak: “And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, there is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king’s laws: therefore it is not for the king’s profit to suffer them. If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king’s treasuries” – Esther 3:8-9 (KJV).
He sold the entire race and still went ahead to allow his hatred to make exception for Mordecai for him to die a separate death. This hatred locked up in his heart made him agree to the counsel given to him. But as he was busy making this plan, heaven was also busy countering his plan. Thus as they were eating on the second invitation of Queen Esther, the king asked, about her petition to which she replied, “for we are sold, I and my people to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish…” -Esther 7:4a (KJV)
This response infuriated the king and thus asked the Queen, ‘… who is he, and where is he, that durst presume in his heart to do so’?–Esther 7:5 (KJV). Esther mentioned Haman as the culprit and the rest became history. (Read Esther 8-10). The evil that he determined against God’s people turned against him.
The fury of the king can in a moment swallow up all the decades of evil which the enemy had reeled out against your destiny. The fury of the king is greater than whosoever has concluded to sell you into perdition. You recall that Adam and Eve sold us into the slavery of sin but our kinsman redeemer, Jesus Christ, bought us back. Just make sure that your relationship with your Creator is not jeopardised and see God engage your Haman without you lifting a finger. He will redeem you from the hand of the one stronger than you. Have you been sold also into the slavery of sin? Jesus gave His life that you might be free completely. Tender your petition to him and it shall turn out well.
Prayer Point: Father, intervene in my situation and deliver me from the hand of the strong enemy in Jesus name.
