Bible Reading: Isaiah 24:1-23
“The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish. The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the Lord, they shall cry aloud from the sea. Wherefore glorify ye the Lord in the fires, even the name of the Lord God of Israel in the isles of the sea.” – Isaiah 24:4-5, 14-15 (KJV)
The world we live in is becoming increasingly warped. Christian values are not only receding in public discourse, they are suffering attacks, even on occasions by believers who should defend them. In our churches, it is becoming the norm to bring the world system into the church, rather than take the church to ‘salt’ the earth. The salty Christian is losing her savour instead of the salt sharpening. Matthew 5:13(KJV) says: “Ye are the salt of the earth; but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.”
Little wonder, the Master said judgment will start in the house (1 Peter 4:17). And what an irony! The one called to judge the Angels is now open to judgment as seen in 1 Corinthians 6:2-3(KJV), “Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? And if the world shall be judged by you are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? How much more things that pertain to this life?”
Yet, there is an escape for the voice that rises to the call to preach the gospel and witness about the Lord Jesus. Why can’t we be the ones to tell the world about what Jesus has done for us?
Prayer: Dear Lord, grant me the courage to tell the world about you and what you did for all. Amen.
