Bible Reading: 2 Chron 7; Col. 1:1-15.
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” – 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV
Being humble means being modest, or having a feeling of insignificance, inferiority or subservience. In Luke 18:10-14, the Lord Jesus told us about two men who went to church to pray. One was full of himself telling God, he was not like the other man as he was always paying his tithes, not committing adultery, not extorting from others and fasting twice a week. On the other hand the other man did not even raise up his head but was continuously asking God for mercy.
The Lord Jesus said, the one who humbled himself asking for mercy went home justified than the other. The bible instructs us in James 4:10 (KJV), “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”
So to get a lifting, we need to humble ourselves before God, asking for mercy from Him and asking that he examines us and reveal our areas of inadequacy so that we can make amend.
None of us is perfect, we are all working towards perfection and we are therefore better positioned asking for the direction of the most high. To do this, we need to recognize our weakness and turn to God asking for his mercy and touch. Thus God says in 2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV )“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Whatever you are going through, just go to the Lord and ask for mercy and He will make you whole.
Prayer: Father, help me to humble myself before you at all times in Jesus name.
