Bible Reading: Genesis 25-26, Matthew Matthew 9:1-17
Memory verse: “And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.” Genesis 25:11(KJV)
Blessings, as pointed out yesterday, is first about your positioning in God. Never you mistake blessings for it by-products. No! Blessing has the ability to attract; it attracts forces under God’s kingdom to your side and aids you in your walk in life. When the positive forces of heaven are around you then, God is with you.
The beautiful thing about blessing is that it is transferrable; it can move from you to your children and to your children’s children. In fact, it is trans-generational! The blessing of Abraham also came upon Isaac, his son. The same way the blessing paved way for the father is the same it did for the son, such that he also became mightier than his host anywhere he settled (Genesis 26:26-30). Moreso, blessing can rest on anyone who joins you wholeheartedly in that thing you are doing for God.
The main reason why God blessed Isaac is seen in Genesis 26:5 ( KJV), “Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.” Abraham sowed a seed of obedience and following God and the effect is the blessing on Isaac. What seed are you sowing today?
The bible says in Genesis 8:22 (KJV), “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” Your action or obedience to God today is a seed you sow, not only for your life but also for unborn generations to come. Follow the example of Abraham, mind your actions daily.
There many contrary forces moving us to disobey God with the aim of stopping us from being blessed. These can only be defeated by the help of God’s Spirit which only comes on those who accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, and consciously align with the Spirit to obey God.
Prayer: Father, help me to consciously obey you for the rest of my life in Jesus name.
