Bible Reading: 2 Kings 10,11,12; John 1:27-51
“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” John 1:29 (KJV)
This scripture is one of my favourite in the bible. I have seen how it has changed the lives of many who never thought they would be accepted again among men. Instead, they got accepted by their maker, God who resides in heaven but visibly active here on earth through His Spirit. Tnis knowledge of sin being taken away restores one’s self esteem. We need to tell others what Jesus Christ has done for them.
The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit was sent so that we would be witnesses of His Son, Jesus Christ, who, the prophet John described as ‘The Lamb’. But even before Jesus died and resurrected, His disciples’ reaction and response on seeing the Messiah is worthy of emulating. First, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of two persons who heard John call Jesus the Lamb of God. John 1:41 (KJV) says, “He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.” He called his own brother to come meet with Jesus.
Philip also did same. Although he met Jesus directly, he did not hesitate to call someone. John 1:45 (KJV) says, “Philip findeth Nathaniel, and saith unto him, we have found him of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” The Samaritan woman whom Jesus met at the well also went to tell others about the Messiah. How many people have you told of Jesus Christ and His finished works since you first heard of Him? ThIS is what is expected of you immediately you get the message and believed.
The Holy Spirit has been given to help us effectively tell others about Jesus. Like Andrew and Philip, you can start by telling at least one person like your brother, sister, friend, neighbour, family members, etc, of how God, through Jesus Christ has forgiven us of our sins and you will see many come to Christ.
Action Plan: Tell at least one person about Jesus Christ today and ask God for grace to make it a lifestyle.
