Bible Reading: Ps. 79 & 80; Romans11: 1-18
“And if by grace, then it is no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work” – Romans 11:6 (KJV)
It is all about grace. The salvation that God extended to man through Christ is the work of grace. It is expedient then that whosoever is a recipient of this salvation must of a necessity humble himself before God and avoid arrogating to himself a holier than thou attitude. Grace is God’s unconditional love extended to man and should be properly reciprocated and seen as that.
The whole existence of man and life is attributable to grace. The fact that we are alive today does not mean that we are more righteous than people of our age that are long dead. Our sustenance today is the work of God’s grace. This is properly elucidated in Romans 5:17 (KJV), “For if by one man’s offence death reign by one; much more they which received abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” Please note that righteousness is a gift by grace. “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God by him” – 2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV).
We must in humility recognise the part grace played in our continued existence and achievements in life. As a Christian you must recognise the place of grace in what you have become today. Our smartness did not give us the success we brandish today but His grace. Even the much taunted sanctity of life and consecration must of a necessity be attributable to the grace of God. God’s grace is the source of our life and existence. We must seek Him diligently to be found worthy of Him.
Prayer: Father, with a deep longing in my heart I desire to humbly remain in your grace.
