Bible reading: Proverbs 19-20; 2 Corinthians 3
Memory verse: “There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.” Proverbs 19:21 (KJV).
The above scripture was rendered in NLT as, “You can make many plans, but the LORD’S purpose will prevail” Proverbs 19:21(NLT). God created man with a spirit, soul and body. The soulish part of man is the part that reasons and plans. The more we make plans and achieves these plans the more man tends toward the thought that life is all about making plans and achieving it. But there is a greater purpose for every man on earth.
Man was created to live a fulfilled life on earth. This life can only be gotten by interacting with the maker through our spirit because God is Spirit. No matter the plans made and attained, only the plan of God for a person will “prevail.” This means only the purpose of God for your life will overcome or gain the much needed victory you need to lead a fulfilled life. The plans need to be checked if that is what God wants for you or not. God will only back or support the plan He made for you. Connecting to His plan for your life is up to you.
Many have lived their lives leaving the God part out of it. At the end of the day they found out they have lived wasted lives. You were created for God’s purpose and only His plan for you will prevail or stand the test of time. Jeremiah 19:23 (KJV), “I know, O Lord, that a man’s life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps.” Moreso, Proverbs 20:24 (NIV) says, “A man’s steps are directed by the LORD.” You will only live a fulfilled life by getting directions from God.
Jesus had to rely on God for the outcome of His life. He never did anything here on earth without consulting with the creator. No wonder he lived a fulfilled life. David also lived a fulfilled life because he consulted God on every step he took before he did anything. You can consult God too by connecting to His Spirit.
God has made His Spirit available to direct you. But this happens if you accept the Lordship of His Son, Jesus Christ. As you confess and accept Him as Lord of your life, He gives you His Spirit who in turn begins to direct your spirit towards His plans for your life.
Prayer: Father, may I not live a life outside Your plans for me in Jesus name.
