Bible Reading: Hosea 1, 2, 3, 4; Revelation 1.
Memory Verse: “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.” Revelation 1:18 (KJV).
The Bible tells us of ten different people that were raised back to life from death. They are : Widow of Zarephath’s son (1 Kings 17:17-24); Shunammite woman’s son ( 2 Kings 4:18-37); An Israelite ( 2 Kings 13:20-21); Widow of Nain’s son ( Luke 7:11-17); Jairus’s daughter ( Luke 8:49-56); Lazarus ( John 11 :1-44); Saints in Jerusalem ( Matthew 27:50-54); Tabitha known as Dorcas (Acts 9:36-42); Eutychus (Acts 20:7-12) and Jesus Christ ( Matthew 28:1-20).
Of all the ten, nine died again and were buried finally butJesus Christ died, buried but resurrected after three days and was seen ascending to heaven. He is the only One who is still alive and forever will be. In Revelation 1:18 (KJV,) Jesus Christ himself says, “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”
Why does Jesus live for ever? Three main reasons can be deduced from the Bible. First for our salvation. 1 John 4:9 (KJV) says, “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.” We would all be dead and heading for hell if not for Jesus that laid down his life for us so that we may be saved from death and the consequences of sin! Also he lives forevermore so that we can live to serve Him forever and thus live a life that pleases God always. 2 Corinthians 5:15 (KJV) tells us, “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” And finally, Jesus lives for evermore so that we can also live with him forevermore as stated in 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 (KJV), “For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, [10] Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.”
The question is whether Jesus Christ is living for you. He can only be living for you if you have accepted him as your Lord and Saviour and live a life of his true disciple! If not, you need to confess your sins and ask for mercy from God while accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Also important is that you need to ensure you live a Iife of holiness because without it, no man can please the Lord.
