…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 10/11/2017

Bible Reading: Esther 8; Hebrews 5:8-14

“And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey” – Hebrews 5:9 (KJV).

We have read of different authors in the world today and have been blessed by the work they did. Some works so appeal to us that we feel like going back to them over and over. This is because we are blessed by the thoughts put together. We have local authors and foreign authors that we admire. In fact, some constantly refer to them whenever they speak. The author of the word is God and this same God has been so pleased to make Jesus Christ the author of salvation for the entire human race.

God approved Him as the author of eternal salvation for all mankind as He was coming out of the water after baptism; “and lo a voice from heaven saying, this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased” –Matthew 3:17 (KJV). ,Jesus Christ, sometimes ago took the three disciples, Peter, James and John to the mountain of transfiguration and as the event was unfolding God spoke out to affirm His Sonship to the disciples “while he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear him” – Matthew 17:5 (KJV).

Jesus Christ did not usurp the position, though he were a Son. Rather, He learned obedience by what He suffered. The Scripture aptly says “for it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings” – Hebrews 2:10 (KJV). He emptied Himself to bring you back to God through the piercing He received from the servants of Pilate which eventually lead to His death. How obedient are you to Jesus Christ who yielded His life for you? To obey Him would mean first, to surrender your life to Him without any reservation and be willing to lead your life by the dictate of His unchanging Word.

Prayer Point: Heavenly Father, help me not to waste the gift offered to me by the author of my salvation in Jesus name.

“It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you and such fornication as is not so much named among gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife” – 1 Cor 5:1 (KJV). The exact sin here is not very clear. Paul’s reference to “his father’s wife” probably means the offender was…
