“But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” – James 2:20 KJV
When we see the poor and we look for ways of meeting his needs or we see the hungry and we provide him with food or the homeless and we provide shelter, then we can say we are working as our father in heaven.
We don’t have to wait till we are able to perform miracles, prophesy or speak in tongues before our Christianity could be felt. When we cater to the needs of our brethren in love within our means, then our Christianity would speak to others.
While it is essential that we preach the gospel, our actions or works preach the gospel more and will make us candidates of heaven. The bible says in Matthew 25:34-35 KJV “Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:”
This bible passage particularly shows the expectations of God from Christians which is to show love to the needy and everyone in our environment. When we preach the gospel by our works, it creates a long lasting impact and helps to change the world faster than mere preaching without works. It also makes ways for us to be able to reach more people.
Imagine giving food to an hungry man and empowering him to be able to eke out a living in the name of Christ. When such a person goes out, he will do the preaching to others by telling them what he benefited from Christ and showing others to benefit as well. This way, we would be able to pass the love around faster.
Prayer: Father, help me to show my faith with good works in Jesus name.
