“And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy, and unblameable, unreproveable in his sight”. Colossians 1: 21-22(KJV)
Paul was writing to the the Gentile nations in his epistle to the Colossian church. He stated that the Gentiles were sometimes alienated and enemies in their mind by wicked works. The Colossian church represent the Gentile nation for whom Christ also came to die for and engrafted them into the family of God. In the lineage that produce Christ the Gentile blood was infused into it through Tamar mother of Pharez, Rahab of Jericho and Ruth the Moabite. The level of wickedness and dark deeds in the Gentile world was terrible but this did not deter Christ consummation of his reconciliatory work at Calvary. This is further explained in Colossians 1:20(KJV) “And having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven” By his death and the blood of his cross Christ brought reconciliation of all things including the Gentile world. All reconciliation was consummated in the flesh of Jesus Christ. This was what Paul the Apostle further elucidated in 2 Corinthians 5:18(KJV) “All things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed to us the word of reconciliation” In the actual sense the gospel we preach is the message of reconciliation. Having been reconciled it becomes our duty to introduce others to the reconciliatory plan of God. Under this reconciliation platform our trespasses was removed and this was done in the body of the flesh of Jesus through death to present us holy, unblameable and unreproveable in the Sight of the Almighty God. This is why the scriptures says we are justified by faith (Romans 5:1), we are justified by his grace (Romans 3:24), we are justified by his blood (Romans 5:9). The book of the Acts of the Apostles”13:39(KJV) summarized it in this way “And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which we could not be justified by the Law of Moses”. My dear reader let it be known to you that Jesus Christ has done all that is necessary to reconcile you to God. It is on this premise that the scripture says that as many as received Him He gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe in His name(John 1:12). I therefore beseech you to drop all wicked and evil ways and embrace Jesus Christ who is the author and finisher of our faith. He has paid the prize of your sin and went further to justify you by his blood. GOD BLESS YOU
Prayer: My God grant me the grace to fully appreciate your finished work at Calvary.
