Bible Reading: Genesis 27-28; Matthew 9:18-38
Memory verse: “And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.” Matthew 9:27 (KJV)
Faith is key in receiving from God. Without faith in God and His Son it is difficult to receive anything. Jesus wants every sick person healed! He is more than willing that we should be made whole. He has finished the work already on the cross, yet many are sick today because of a lack of faith in Him. Faith is a demonstration of confidence in God and His word. It is a demonstration of confidence in Jesus, His Son.
A miracle happened to a woman who has been sick with the issue of blood for twelve years. She demonstrated confidence in Jesus when she heard about Him and saw Him. Mark 5:25-29 (KJV), “And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, [26] And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, [27] When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. [28] For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. [29] And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.” It is a natural law in the kingdom of God that as you put your faith to work God’s part will be done. Jesus was not even aware of this woman following Him! She said within herself and did as she said and God honoured her.
Jesus knew that the blind men were calling on Him. But they demonstrated confidence by following Him till He got to a house. Imagine a blind man following you! It is a desperate attempt to get something. In this case, it is a public show of their inward trust in Jesus to restore their sight. The bible says in Matthew 9:29-30a ( KJV), Then touched he their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened.”
What are you going through that is making life unbearable? Believe in Jesus by searching the scriptures for His say on that issue and go further by demonstrating this belief in Him by your works. You must show your faith by your works (James 2:17-20) like the woman with the issue blood and the two blind men did.
Prayer: Father, increase my faith in You and Your word. Help me to demonstrate confidence in You
