Bible Reading: Ps. 81, 82, 83; Romans 11:19-38
“They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course” – Psalm 82:5 (KJV)
Knowledge and understanding are the major components of divine wisdom that brought all creations into existence. Knowledge is an emancipator and a liberator. It illuminates and set free. Knowledge and understanding has the power of illumination, hence the bible says in our scripture of today that because they have no knowledge and understanding they walk in darkness. It can therefore be said that darkness is a product of lack of knowledge and understanding. Darkness is intimidating while light, which operates through knowledge and understanding, emboldens.
Knowledge is strength: “A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength” – Proverb 24:5 (KJV). Knowledge multiply riches; “And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches” – Proverbs 24:4 (KJV). To emphasize the importance of knowledge the scripture says in Proverbs 7:4 (KJV), “Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:”. One major way to encounter understanding is the word of God. The word of God is the source of understanding and knowledge which are the major component of wisdom from above. The Psalmist says in Psalm 119:99(KJV), “I have more understanding than my teachers: for the testimonies are my meditation” Again in Psalm 119:130 (KJV) he said, “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” To further confirm this Jesus said in John 8:32 (KJV), “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” The bible says in John 1:1&4,5 (KJV), “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God……….In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not”. In John 14:6 (KJV) Jesus said “…., I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me”.
From the above statement we can therefore deduce that the knowledge of Jesus is the power that sets us free from every form of darkness. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, so the knowledge of Him is the instrument of emancipation from every satanic bondage. The power of the knowledge of Christ cannot be resisted by any force on earth. Such an understanding transforms a man from the realm of humanity to that of the divine. (See 2 Peter 1: 3-4).
If there be any knowledge and understanding a man must get, it should be the knowledge of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, for in Him dwells the fullness of Godhead bodily and we are complete in Him.
Prayer: Father entrench me in the knowledge and understanding of Christ.
