Bible Reading: 2 Chro. 9; Col.2:1-12.
“Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.” – Colossians 2:12 (KJV)
Water baptism is the physical alignment with the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus. Being immersed in water is symbolic of dying to sins and being buried with the dead sin. Now coming out of the water is a show of resurrection without the sins in alignment with Jesus’ resurrection without the white cloths used to bury him. Thus the bible says in Colossians 2:12 (KJV): “Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.”
However there are spiritual implications of water baptism. It symbolises a covenant of unity with Christ and thus implies separation from any other covenant one might have entered. Ephesians 4:5 (KJV): “One Lord, one faith, one baptism,”
This is why a number of things happen to some people when they are immersed in water for baptism. In such a case, the other satanic power may not want to release the person who must have been his ally. However that is possible where the person being immersed has not fully surrendered his Life to Christ such that he was not in total agreement with the baptism. Where he is in full agreement with the baptism, it would signify the end of any satanic relationship he might have had. A Muslim gave his life to Christ and some others were trying to win him back to the faith. However he made up his mind to be a Christian, and went for water baptism. When the other muslims found out that he had done water baptism, they told him that he had crossed over completely and so stopped following up with him.
Water baptism is therefore not a ritual of just being immersed in water but a decision to announce one’s alignment with Christ.
Action point: If you have not been baptized in water by immersion, please seek out a bible believing church and do your water baptism.
