TOPIC: HIT THE GYM OF THE WORD
“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” Hebrews 5:14 (KJV)
The spirit man has senses just like our physical bodies has the sense of taste, hearing, touch, sight and smell. If you’ve not exercised your muscles in a long time, you’ll feel pains when you eventually begin to work them out and it is the same thing with your spiritual senses. Some Christians are always clueless on what to do when they find themselves in certain situations because they’ve never really exercised their senses like we see in today’s text.
Yes! You do have spiritual senses. Paul prayed in Ephesians 1:18 (KJV), “the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.” So, you have spiritual eyes. 1 John 1:1 says, “That which was from the beginning, which we have HEARD, which we have SEEN with our EYES, which we have looked upon, and OUR HANDS have HANDLED, concerning the Word of life…” Now you see that you have spiritual ears and hands to take things. These senses have to be exercised for productivity.
The Bible says in 1 Timothy 4:8 (KJV), “For bodily exercise profiteth little: but GODLINESS is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.” The benefit that comes with physical exercise is small when it comes to living life at best, because it only keeps you fit and will teach you certain disciplines such as endurance, patience etc. and that’s just about it but scriptures say that the benefits of godliness are in every area of your life.
Godliness means to live like God, and God lives by love and faith. When there is a challenge, see it as a time of stretching your faith by going into the Word of God, meditating and acting upon it. See every obstacle today as an opportunity to develop your spiritual senses and muscles. It might be a little ‘difficult’ at first but as you stay consistent your spiritual senses will be trained to know what the right thing is to do in every situation. A carnal person might be clueless but not you because you have been exercising those senses. If you haven’t been doing that, then it is time to hit life’s gym in God’s Word and start training your spiritual senses because you were born for victory in Jesus’ name.
DECLARE: I am what the Word of God says and I am and I have what it says I have. I am stretching my faith in God’s Word and training my spiritual senses. My spiritual senses are alive to the Word and Spirit of God in Jesus’ Name.
