Bible Reading: The Song of Solomon 3:1-11
“I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him but I found him not” – Song of Solomon 3:2 (KJV).
This scripture pictures God’s relationship with Israel, his several advances towards Israel and Israel’s poor response and rejection of him. Israel missed God’s visitation.
We need to seek for God while he may be found. The scripture states that now is the acceptable time. Today is the day of salvation. As we hear the voice of God, we should not harden our heart. The scripture portrays Israel seeking for God after he has waited, knocked and they refused to open for him.
There is a time of one’s visitation where the Holy Spirit makes appeal and advances towards a person to create opportunity for salvation or an encounter. It is possible for one to miss one’s season of visitation like Israel did. Jesus wept over her. “And when he was come near he beheld the city, and wept over it, saying; if thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! But now they are hid from thy eyes” – Luke 19: 41-42 (KJV).
Anytime the Holy Spirit stirs our heart towards God, we should respond in obedience because failure to do so might plunge us into the darkness of ignorance and hardness of heart. Sometimes, people foolishly procrastinate or postpone commitment due to ignorance of seasons of life. They ignorantly plan their life thinking that they need to have fun and enjoy pleasures of life. They feel they may give a thought to spiritual things sometimes in the future. Some people consider themselves too busy to give attention to God and things of eternity. They feel that could be done much latter when they have fulfilled their own programmes. Wise men seek for God early.
PRAYER: Oh God, help me to understand the seasons of life in Jesus name.
