Bible Reading: Genesis 29-30; Matthew 10:1-23
Memory verse: “And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.” Genesis 29:31 (KJV)
“Children,” the bible says, “are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward” (Psalms 127:3). Children comes from God. It does not matter how the parents met, when a baby comes in then God made it happen because He is the only one that has the capacity and ability to bring a being into this life.
A man can meet his wife and yet nothing comes from it no matter how many times they meet. But God can touch the womb of a woman and the result will be immediate. Ruth 4:13 (KJV) says, “So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.” It was God who gave conception.
In some situations God usually comes to the aid of the oppressed women in marriages by opening their womb as in the case of Peninah and Hannah. Bible made us understand that Elkanah their husband, loved Hannah but she had no children. Peninah became her adversary because of this. But God opened her womb at the set time (1 Samuel 1-2).
Leah’s womb was opened because Jacob loved Rachel more. The bible says, “And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.” Genesis 29:31 (KJV). God sees all in our lives. He knows where and how to create a balance in all things even in marriage. Leah’s children coming first made her retain her place in the marriage because Rachel was favoured above her by their husband. Among many other reasons, children from God help create a balance in a home.
Let us learn to trust God in everything; He sees all and knows what to do to save us in whatever situation we find ourselves.
