…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 12/07/2019

Bible Reading: Psalms 4-6 ; Acts 17:18-34

“Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer” – Psalms 4:1 (KJV)

A lot of people do not call on God, especially when in difficult times. Others say they did and did not get a response. But the bible is full of examples of people who called on God and got response from Him. Who are these people and how did they go about it?

David, from the verse of today, demanded a hearing from God because it is the right to do. He is a righteous God and wants all who believe in Him to rightly call upon Him for answers. No wonder David called and inquired of Him when the enemies raided the camp of the Israelites and took away his wives and children. His call was answered by His God who told him to pursue, overtake and recover all (1 Samuel 30:8-20).

You should call on Him because “..it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture” – Psalm 100:3 (KJV). A child will naturally look to his father for help when in difficulty. He made us and so we call on Him when we don’t know what else to do.

Some don’t call on God because of their mistakes of the past. Christ’s death and resurrection is the answer. Acknowledge Him as your Lord and Saviour and ask for forgiveness of sins. It does not take God anything to forgive, just a sincere heart of repentance. The robber at His side on the cross was forgiven instantly (Luke 23:43). He has not changed, he still hears when you call. Be specific on what you desire and call upon Him today.

Prayer: Father, I ask for your grace to call upon You always in everything I do.
