Bible Reading: Psalm 93-95; Romans 11:22-36.
Memory Verse: “For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.” Romans 11:36 (KJV)
God shows His generosity to the human race by providing some basic needs for everyone irrespective of colour, age, status or faith. For example, everyone breathes in air as much as the body can take in without any form of payment. This is taken for granted until you get to the hospital and see how much people pay for the same air when they cannot breathe on their own!
The Bible in Genesis chapter one states that God created all things and those include human beings (Gen 1:27). In fact, John 1:3 (KJV) says, “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” In the same way, He puts the whole world together such that the sun is not too hot nor the moon too cold for the generality of the people. He also provides us with the light of the sun during the day such that we can see without any artificial light and moon at night!
The second part of Apostle Paul’s statement in our memory verse is that all things are through him. He created all things in harmony. Imagine the various cells of human beings and the harmonious relationship in the parts of a human body. The brain, the eyes, the nose, the ears, the tongue, the mouth and other parts of the body work harmoniously such that they compliment each other. Where there is disharmony, it will be due to an interference such as a disease or sickness. Our God is perfect and He makes all things perfect unless there is an outside interference.
And lastly, all things are made to give him glory. Thus Revelation 4:11 (KJV) says, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” And Ecclesiastes 12:13 confirms that the purpose of man on earth is to fear God and obey His commandments. So every activity of man should be geared towards giving glory to God. This is why the Bible says in Romans 11:36 (KJV), “For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.” So, giving glory to such an Almighty God should be what any rational human being should be eager to do knowing that your existence depends on him.
Glory is defined by Cambridge Dictionary as great admiration, honour and praise that you earn by doing something successfully. Giving glory to God therefore means acknowledging His greatness and giving Him honour for who He is. Giving honour to God encompasses, praising Him, worshipping Him, studying more about Him through His word, obeying Him in all your ways and generally putting Him first in everything you do.
Action Point: Examine your life whether you glorify God in your daily living and make necessary adjustments.
