Topic: Stop Thinking for God.
Bible Reading: Psalm 93-95; Romans 11:22-36.
Memory Verse: “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!” Romans 11:33 (KJV) .
God has His ways of doing things and so men should stop second guessing him. When you pray to God, don’t think on how that prayer will be answered because He has the earth as His footstool and can choose any thing or anyone to answer your prayer. Besides, He knows all things and we are significantly limited in knowledge. Imagine when Elijah was jealous for God and thought he was the only true worshipper of God Almighty left in Israel but God answered him and told him there were seven thousand people in the same Israel that had not bowed down to any idol (1 Kings 19:13-18).
When you start thinking of how God will answer your prayers, then you may be worried on how seemingly impossible because of your limited knowledge but God who knows all things can decide to use a source that you never knew or could not have imagined, that’s why God says you should not worry about your needs but trust him. In Philippians 4:6 (KJV) He says, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
Several years ago, there was a man of God in the church I fellowship and I felt he was arrogant; he would not get down from his car, rather expect someone to open the car for him, he expected the junior pastors to treat him with so much reverence and I felt, how can a man of God be so proud. Then one day he was invited to minister in the parish I was fellowshipping. All through his ministration, I was just thinking for God that how can such a person call himself a man of God. Then after the service, I was going home and I suddenly hit another car and asked God why? The response surprised me! He said who asked me to judge His servant? I was stunned and I apologized. Isaiah 55:8-9 (KJV), “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. [9] For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
So, please stop thinking how God will give you whatever you ask for or thinking how He will deal with a situation or even worse judging His children on His behalf. Always remember that the Bible says in Romans 11:33 (KJV), “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!” Just trust God that he is just and will not withhold any good thing from his children! (Psalm 84:11).
Prayer point: Father, please help me to stop thinking for you but to trust you wholeheartedly in all my ways in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
