Bible Reading: Genesis 31,32; Matthew 9:21-38
“While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.” – Matthew 9:18 (KJV)
To worship God involves ascribing honour and worth to the great God. It expresses faith, love and devotion from our hearts and with our lives to God. Man was created to worship God. Before you ask for anything from God, you should first worship Him like the ruler in the bible verse above.
Jesus’ next act was seen in Matthew 9:9, “And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.” As you worship God, you get His responds instantly. Remember that the man was a ruler. He dropped his crown and everything that made him him a ruler ascribing honour and worth to God.
He also demonstrated confidence in God by not only His actions, but by his His words. He said, “but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live” – (Matthew 9:18b). Faith is a demonstration of our confidence in God by our words backed with our actions of belief. This ruler got it all correct leading to the raising up of his daughter by the Lord.
The woman with the issue of blood said in her heart, “For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.” -Matthew 9:21b. She followed up her words with actions and she was healed.
Two blind men followed him from the road till he got to where He was going asking for mercy. He asked them, do you believe I am able to do this? They replied, yea Lord. “Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes wer opened;…” – Matthew 9:29-30a (KJV).
Faith and worship gave these people their much desired miracle. As we grow in our faith and learning to worship Him with all we have with our heart, we will see miracles happen often in our lives and the lives of those we love.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I receive grace to grow in faith in my worship to You.
